The stories of the title, as told to us by friends and family, revolve around a long-lost love that is found and then lost again. The film uses the theme of friendship as a means of story telling. Though Mujhse Dosti Karoge is filled with many such characters, it centers primarily on four friends – Anu (Anushka Sharma), Angad (Sooraj Pancholi), Aditi (Minissha Lamba) and Shivangi(Sarah). The group meets at a camp during their college days, where they share their stories to one another over a fire. One of the most prominent stories is that of Anu and Angad who stay in touch with one another over the years. While they meet after several years, their friendship ends when Angad marries a girl, whom he had met at the camp, (Kim Sharma). The story then moves forward by 3 years. Anu is now married to Naveen (Rajkumar Yadav) who is a widower with a son named Akash. Angad has just turned into a drunkard following his wife's death in an accident. When he realises that Akash looks similar to him, he decides to adopt him so that his own heritage can continue. He also tries to get Akash admitted to an American school so that he can get better education than what is offered at his local school. When Akash runs away, Anu decides to help Angad in this quest. She goes in search of Akash, while Angad with his newfound goal of helping Akash with American schooling attempts to create a photo story in order for him to gain admission into the American school. The story then takes a very different turn when the 4 friends get together for a reunion. Angad, who originally came to meet his son, tries to reunite with his old friends and ask them to help him find Akash. He also tries convincing them that he truly wants to help Akash and not just marry him off for money and prestige. Anu (Anushka Sharma), who is now married, comes back with Naveen (Rajkumar Yadav) and Akash (Shaheer Sheikh) but refuses to listen to Angad's pleas of helping him find Akash. Anu refuses to believe that Angad truly does want to reunite with his son. The film ends with Akash meeting his father for the first time. "Mujhse Dosti Karoge" was released on 11 December 2012. The film opened well at the box office. The film performed well in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai. The collections were reported to be over 1 crore nett in the first weekend itself, making it a success at the box office.
